COMALCO MINE TOUR.
A combined Town and Mine tour is available and departs daily from the Weipa Camping Ground. The tour takes approximately 2¼Hrs and gives an in-depth look at the largest bauxite mine in the world. The tour costs $25.00 per adult and $10.00 per child under 16 years. Due to safety concerns and because it is a regulation to use seat belts when fitted, children are not permitted to sit on your lap. The mine area is approximately 2,500 square kilometres with ore reserves of about 3.4 billion tonnes. The mine is 100% owned by Comalco. Picture Gallery. |
