A combined Town and Mine tour is available and departs daily from the Camping Grounds. The tour takes approximately 2 hours and gives an in-depth look at one of the largest bauxite mines in the world. The tour costs $30.00 per adult and $12.00 per child less than 16 years of age. Due to safety concerns, and because it is a regulation to use seat belts when fitted, children under 5 are not permitted. All patrons must remain seated; children are not to be placed on laps. Rio Tinto has asked that no video recordings are to be taken, however you are more than welcome to take photos. 

The mine area is approximately 2,500 square kilometres with ore reserves of about 3.4 billion tonnes. The mine is 100% owned by Rio Tinto.
